5 Taste Samples of the Vegan Life!

For many, the idea of “going vegan” is intimidating…time, energy, cost and (Heaven forbid) possible taste-compromise!  To help you get “into the groove,” here are 5 taste samples of the vegan life!

First, why all the talk of veganism?  Veganism is a lifestyle that aims to prohibit all kinds of animal ill treatment and brutality for food, apparel or any other purpose. The true vegan lifestyle lacks all animal products, which includes dairy, eggs, and meat.

Have you wanted to go vegan, but have not made the leap yet? I have found some yummy recipes that will most likely encourage you to dive in and begin the Vegan Lifestyle journey. We are always learning about how to eat more vegetables. Fitting them into quick, healthy and flavorful meals and snacks is a fun goal.

Here are some of my faves!

This crowd-pleasing recipe is courtesy of The Natural Nurturer and great chef/blogger Taesha (with a shout-out to for her personal commitment to help busy people enjoy a vegan life with real food that tastes amazing AND is easy to make)!

After all, who wouldn’t love pasta and guacamole?!

#3. Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese with Broccoli

You can just smell this dish from this succulent photo (thanks to Forks Over Knives.com)!  Flavorful spiced butternut squash blended with nutritional yeast and a little plant milk makes a delightfully rich and “cheesy” sauce for pasta and broccoli!

Using rice or quinoa pasta in this recipe make it easy to serve up a very tasty plant based, gluten free meal!

#4. Vegan-Life Pot Pie

Again, I admit it:  have and always will LOVE pot pie! And I follow that with a disclaimer:  this vegan pot pie is a bit time consuming to make…(mostly in creating the flavor-filled, flaky crust)…combine this with a fragrant, well-spiced filling and this vegan delight is totally worth the effort!  The gluten-free crust is made with almond flour and mashed potatoes, and the savory vegetable filling is fragrant with warming spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice.  With immense gratitude, brought to us by Forks Over Knives!

FYI – by using Certified Gluten Free Oat Flour you can rest assured there is not cross-contamination of gluten. You can change the pie filling by adding your favorite veggies and other ingredients to create a new recipe!

#5. Vegan Kababs with Avocado Dressing

Brought to us from tasty London and great writer/chef Sophie Godwin of the BBC Good Food cookery team!

Fire up the grill and load up those skewers with your favorite veggies adding a very flavorful BBQ taste and slather with scrumptious avocado dressing!

Enjoy trying these 5 tasty samples of the vegan life with your family and friends!
