Why buy chocolates and flowers when you can give a more meaningful handmade gift for Valentine’s Day?

We all want to give our loved ones something extra special on this day even if it is only a sweet written message. Here are 10 Do-It-Yourself crafty gifts that can be made with fun in mind! And for those of you who have a challenging time (as I do) trying to choose a Valentine present for your most significant other, included are a few good ideas to show them your love.

1. Love in a Mug

One really cute idea is a DIY “Love in a Mug” using only a coffee cup, small candies to fill the cup, and some Sharpie markers for original art decorations. They will think of you every time they look at the mug!  Check out the price for a set of four 16 ounce, blank white mugs on Amazon!

Fun Fact:  You may have heard about Galentine’s Day. This is a day (February 13th) which is a celebration of female friendship which can include girlfriends, daughters, sisters, mothers, and grandmothers started by actress Amy Poehler, as Leslie Knope in the popular sitcom Parks and Recreation. These are great Galentine gifts as well!

2.  Cake Socks

Comfy socks presented in extremely cute “cupcake boxes.”  Enjoy putting these together and making them look like cupcakes…really cute!  Check out the price for a set of three Cake Socks on Amazon!three sets of fluffy socks packaged like cup cakes

3.  Friendship bracelets with cute Andy Warhol inspired card

For those of us who love weaving with embroidery thread, here is a great way to share your talent (and love) with someone dear to you.  Here is an easy and enjoyable step-by-step YouTube video (courtesy of The House that Lars Built.com).  The “cards” are printed from a PDF downloaded from TheHouseThatLarsBuilt.com.  Enjoy!

Does your Valentine love to read? Browsing for a book that your sweetie can curl up with and enjoy is another way to show your love. Not exactly a DIY project, but beautiful homemade wrapping and a handwritten inscription of love would make it very unique to you.

Have a wonderfully fun time making your personal homemade Valentine gifts and watching the smiles on their faces!
